Submissions for Pulch Issue Three are open now!
To celebrate the new year, Pulch will be opening submissions for their third issue from now until Sunday the 31st of March at 11:59pm, so be sure to share the news with all the young artists and writers who may be interested in getting published with Pulch.

The Centre for Stories mentor trainee program is designed for people who are early in their writing career and are ready to take the next steps to becoming mentors themselves. Participants will be paired with a published author who will help you ‘level up’ your writing enterprise. As well as being paired with a mentee: an emerging writer taking their first steps in the literature sector.

The SBS Emerging Writers’ Competition is a chance for aspiring writers to share their unique stories and be in the running to win a prize pool of up to $10,000. The competition writing theme is ‘Between Two Worlds: stories from a diverse Australia’ which allows plenty of scope to write a memoir piece.

Propel Youth Arts WA as part of the Youth Week WA KickstART Festival are excited to announce a new writing mentorship program for young writers led by prolific writer and poet Maddie Godfrey. To write is a form of mapping; mapping our stories, our movements and our thoughts as they traverse our headspaces. This mentorship opportunity invites a small group of young writers to become cartographers of their own narratives.

The Arts Writing Group will encompass a series of structured workshops on writing about art during the 2021 Perth Festival. The group will make visits to and participate in events and exhibitions included in the Perth Festival Visual Arts Program, with the view of developing responses to these Festival offerings. Work produced through the Arts Writing Group will be published during and following the festival period via Semaphore an online publication about art from Western Australia.

The WriteNow Program brings together eager WAYTCo members to work with professional Western Australian playwrights to develop their writing skills for theatre. Over the course of 8 weeks this program aims to empower young people to tell Western Australian stories from a youth perspective and build individual skills in storytelling, writing, performance, and character development.

The EWF At Home Residencies will see four emerging writers spending a fortnight working on their writing craft remotely at home, supported by the Emerging Writers’ Festival. The opportunity is open to writers of all genres and styles, including poetry, fiction, non-fiction, scriptwriting, YA, essays and short stories.

Co-curated with Djed Press and edited by Rafeif Ismail and Ellen van Neerven, Unlimited Futures: Speculative, Visionary Blak+Black Fiction is an anthology for young adults which provides the chance for established, new and emerging First Nations writers and Afro-Black writers to share their stories about visionary pasts, present and possible futures. Around 20 Australian own-voice contributors will be selected for the anthology, which will be published by Fremantle Press in 2021.

Press, Flex, Relax presented by Drug Aware are looking for emerging artists and writers based in Boorloo (Perth) to participate in an upcoming Zine project funded by Propel Youth Arts WA.

DOUBLY SO is a collaborative online zine/exhibition about self-isolating from the "most isolated city on Earth." Perth has long been proud of it's (factually incorrect?) claim of being the world's most isolated city. Let's consider what that might mean for us as our creative community is facing social distancing, financial hardship and further isolation.

Right Now is currently looking to make forays into the Western Australian literary, publishing and social impact spaces, and to bring Western Australian issues of social justice and human rights into the mainstream.
