PIVOT
Learning, resources, and networking opportunities for young creatives.
PIVOT is a professional development initiative for young and emerging artists, creatives, and arts-workers in WA.
PIVOT offers best-practice resources, and networking opportunities to help young people navigate their creative careers. First launched in 2021, the PIVOT initiative has since delivered two in-person programs: Arts Admin for Sustainable Careers and Where Creativity Meets Business.
PIVOT: Passion to Practice
For 2023, Propel presented PIVOT: Passion to Practice, a one-day masterclass event - on Saturday December 2nd at The Platform in East Perth - serving as a springboard for learning, networking, and gaining insights into WA’s dynamic arts landscape.
Seasoned multiform artists and arts industry professionals shined through a full-day program of thought-provoking panels, enlightening keynote speeches, interactive discussions, and invaluable networking opportunities. PIVOT participants learned not only how to translate their passion into practice but also construct the blueprint for establishing their own presence in the industry and setting the course for a sustainable creative career.
Here’s some things our participants said about the day!
‘The day was a vibrant fusion of creativity and inspiration, teeming with fresh ideas, sincere dialogue, and captivating interactions’
‘The diversity of speakers, each a maestro in their unique art form, provided not just artistic insights but also shared their personal journeys of well-being, challenges in regional arts communities, and the emerging opportunities. This kaleidoscope of perspectives was not only empowering but also invaluable in preparing emerging artists for a future rich with potential.’
‘It addressed the growing pains for many people kick-starting their career and spoke to the conceptual side of a creative practice as well as being grounded in reality.’
The 2023 PIVOT program is supplemented by the release of the PIVOT Digital Toolkit (PDT) an innovative new digital hub set to provide essential professional development resources exclusively for Propel members. The PDT will be officially released in 2024 but attendees for the PIVOT: Passion to Practice conference will receive early access to a preview of the resource.
