PICA in collaboration with Memo Review invites expressions of interest from early-career arts writers based in Western Australia for a writing mentorship from June to November 2023

The selected writer will be mentored by a Memo Review Editor to develop and publish a feature article for Memo’s inaugural annual print magazine, launching November 2023.

This collaboration will form connections between the creative communities across Boorloo/Perth and Naarm/Melbourne, inviting dialogue between practitioners and ongoing professional connections, and enabling Memo’s platform to expand nationally to encompass arts criticism from Western Australia.

The selected writer will be paid a fee of $1,500 for an article of approximately 2,000–3,000 words.

Applicants are invited to submit a writing sample (1,000 words maximum), a feature article pitch (200 words maximum) and a short statement on how your writing practice would benefit from this mentorship along with the application form. The editors are particularly interested in pitches with a WA focus.

Applications will be assessed by PICA and Memo Review editors. Selection will be based on the quality of writing and the potential for the mentorship to benefit the applicant’s writing practice.

Applications close: Thursday 1 June 2023, 5pm (AWST)
