Beauty in the Mundane with Ria Maglinao

With everyone always constantly rushing to get things done or to reach a destination, we often overlook the beauty that comes with our daily routines.

  • The first pour of coffee

  • The light entering the train after a tunnel

  • Busy feet crossing the road

Using shadow and light, as well as teaching to play with shutter speed for motion shots, I aim to share my technique in capturing the beauty in the mundane, to tell untold stories through photos that you can take anywhere.

About Ria Maglinao

I am a photographer who aims to capture the beauty that goes unnoticed in our busy daily hustle. It is such a common misconception that beautiful photos comes from everything being perfect — the lighting, the model and the location. But there is such profound beauty in the imperfections and I aim to capture that.

Beauty in the Munday with Ria Maglinao is part of a workshop series for Mosaic, an annual community photography project that captures a collective narrative about a day in WA. Share your moment by registering for Capture Day happening on Sunday 6 December 2020 here.

Mosaic is presented by Propel Youth Arts WA in partnership with the City of Perth. Propel is supported by the State Government of Western Australia, through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, and Lotterywest.
