Studio photography is often the next step in a photographer’s career and the skills surrounding studio photography opens up a variety of opportunities.

These opportunities can range from professional portraiture to product photography. They encompass many skills including directing models and technical camera skills and encourages skill development in a variety of areas. 

This workshop will equip participants with a basic understanding of studio photography. Directing models and lighting, technical camera skills and settings, studio setups, and adapting to variables are just a few aspects of studio photography.  

Learn how to navigate the setup of a standard photography studio, from how to use all the gear for different subjects to the props and theory behind it all.

Sophie Minissale

About Sophie Minissale

Sophie Minissale is an emerging multi-disciplinary artist working in Western Australia / Boorloo, focusing on telling stories through small, personal and intimate ways. She has had her photography exhibited in the 25Under25 Fremantle Arts Competition and ‘Doubly So’ by the Smart Casual collective. Outside of her exhibited work, she has photographed music festivals such as Origin, Listen Out and Groovin’ the Moo. In addition to her exhibited and music work, she has worked with a number of theatre artists and performers to produce exciting commercial works.

Outside of her photography work, she was the Editor of Pelican Magazine in 2019 and is currently working with Pulch as an assistant editor.

Studio Photography with Sophie Minnisale is part of a workshop series for Mosaic, an annual community photography project that captures a collective narrative about a day in WA. Share your moment by registering for Capture Day happening on Sunday 6 December 2020 here.
