On any given night as many as 6,000 young West Australians don’t have permanent accommodation, but in their hearts they have a ‘home’.

Home Is Where My Heart Is is a photographic mentorship and exhibition program that partners emerging photographers with young people who have experienced homelessness. The outcome of the mentorship is a series of photographs that captures the young person’s interpretation of 'home'.

The unique photographic exhibition held as part of National Homeless Persons Week through a collaboration between the Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia (YACWA) and Propel Youth Arts WA.

Now in its seventh year, the project inserts names, faces, and personal narratives into the discussion of homelessness to dispel the many myths surrounding young homeless people.

These moving and diverse images offer insight into the lives of young homeless people in WA and act as a catalyst for wide spread community education and discussion about youth homelessness.
