Join Alice Muhling and Amy Lin in conversation as they discuss the inner-workings of writers’ festivals: what is a festival; why do festivals matter; how do writers get to be a part of a festival; networking tips, and more.

Alice Muhling is a creative producer and arts manager who has worked across various Australian festivals and theatre companies. Alice joined Emerging Writers’ Festival from Next Wave where she was Associate Producer of Brunswick Mechanics Institute. Prior to this, Alice was Company Manager of Malthouse Theatre for 4 years and Program Manager of Brisbane Festival, where she was also the Secretary of the Australia Council’s Confederation of Australian International Arts Festivals. Her career credits to date include roles with Queensland Theatre, Magnum Photos London, Poppy Seed Theatre Festival, Map Creative and Time Off Magazine. Alice is committed to supporting critical conversations around diversity and inclusion, as well as investigating the role of art as a vehicle for community development. She is also a strong supporter of artist development and has enjoyed working with interdisciplinary artists from China, Timor-Leste, Ireland, Australia and South America, amongst others. Amy Lin is a Perth-based writer and lawyer. Amy has published a number of poems, essays, reviews, and interviews and has edited for Westerly, Enchanting Verses, Limina and Axon. Amy works as a Governance Advisor in the Local Government sector, and is a mentor for the Centre for Stories ‘Inclusion Matters’ project.
