Emodied: Blower Vac Hacky Sac

CAN Storystreet Embodied

EMBODIED is an invitation to inhabit your body, express yourself through movement, and have fun. Sete Tele hosts Blower vac hacky sac at Girrawheen Seniors Centre in the City of Wanneroo. Welcome all to a story sharing experience, where individual stories are scribed upon various forms of paper, then bounced out into the universe boosted by the power of a battery of blower vacs!

It will be noisy, colourful, visually festive, perhaps sweaty, perhaps not, but our respective narratives will be shared via an intimate environment of soulful dancing and fun filled flamboyance! We come together to celebrate each other, acknowledging our humanity, and the power we have.

Part of EMBODIED: Dance Nights workshops hosted by Mararo Wangai, Yilin Kong, and Sete Tele. We recognise that LGBTQIA+ folks, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and people with a disability operate within systems which often isolate them/us from their/our own bodies, while representing those bodies as other. Embodied aims to foster a safe space to allow for connection to our bodies and identities through movement.

EMBODIED: Dance Nights will be followed by an opportunity for participants to chat about the experience in a supportive informal setting. As part of the process, we are making a video where participants will have the chance to share their words, thoughts, feelings and moves!

There are two nights at two different locations:

Fri, 1 Nov 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM Girrawheen Seniors Centre

Wed, 6 Nov 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM Riverton Library

This is just one event in the Lotterywest Story Street program find out more today!
