  • Propel Youth Arts WA 53 James Street Northbridge (map)

Propel Youth Arts WA is seeking expressions of interest from members to nominate for our Board of Management in 2023.

We are looking for people with a passion for youth arts and a diverse range of skills, experience, areas of expertise, and lived experiences. This year, we are particularly interested in receiving nominations from people with prior experience and expertise in:

  • WA Arts or Youth Sectors

  • Philanthropy and Partnerships

  • Advocacy and Policy

  • Not-For-Profit Governance

  • Law.

About Propel Youth Arts WA

Propel Youth Arts WA is a purpose-driven not-for-profit organisation representing and supporting young people through the arts and creative industries.

As the only multi-art form youth arts organisation in WA, Propel is a critical part of our arts ecosystem, with programming and services that are unique and provide a platform for young people to grow their careers and skills.

About the Propel Board

The Board is the governing body of Propel and is responsible for driving the strategic direction of the organisation whilst maintaining excellent financial health and accountability to laws and industry standards.

Propel is a not-for-profit organisation, so our Board positions are voluntary – but our Board Members enjoy making a difference to an organisation that exists to help young people through arts and culture. The Propel Board is usually comprised of 5-10 Board Members, who come from a range of disciplines and backgrounds.

If you have the experience we are looking for, you could make a valuable contribution to our Board and participate in:

  • Board Meetings – Held up to eight times per year, usually every 6-7 weeks, on Mondays from 5.30 pm in the Northbridge area or online.

  • Strategic Planning – We hold up to two planning sessions per year.

  • Social Events – We usually host one or two social events each year for our staff, members, volunteers, stakeholders, and Board Members.

  • Exhibitions and Launches – We run a range of interactive programs and projects, and encourage Board Members to attend these events.

Annual General Meeting

Propel will be holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 27 April 2023. At every AGM, elections to the Board of Management are held. Once elected, Board Members serve a term of 2 years, after which they can renominate to be elected again.

Am I eligible?

All current Propel members aged 18 and over are eligible to nominate to become a Board Member. Memberships roll over each year for those aged 26 and under, after which time you must pay for your membership and renew it annually.

If you are interested in nominating but are not a current Propel member, you will need to apply to become a member, and your membership application must be received by 5 pm on Monday 27 March 2023.

How do I nominate?

For a Propel member to be eligible for election to the Propel Board, they must be nominated and seconded by a Propel member - though this can include themselves.

To nominate for the Propel Board, please complete the online Board Nomination Form below before 5 pm on Monday 27 March 2023.

We look forward to receiving your board nomination and hope to work with you to make a difference for young creative people in WA.
