The City of Bayswater invites submissions for 2023 Community Art Awards. Emerging and established artists are invited to submit their artwork into the City’s 2023 Community Art Awards for the opportunity to win up to $5,000 in prize money and have their work on sale to the public.

From Monday 4 September to Friday 6 October, artists can submit their watercolours, resin art, sculpture, photography, mixed media artwork and more across 10 categories including the Whadjuk Award, which returns in 2023 after being introduced by Council last year.

Successful entries will be displayed in a free community exhibition at The RISE in Maylands daily from 10am to 4pm, Sunday 5 to Saturday 18 November. Winners will be announced at a special awards night on Saturday 4 November.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to purchase their favourite artwork and vote for the Bendigo Bank Bayswater People’s Choice Award to go in the draw to win a $50 voucher.

For the first time, the City will host tours of the exhibition, guided by returning curator Leo Flavel, where art enthusiasts and collectors will have the opportunity to hear from one of this year’s award winners.

The Community Art Awards and Art Enthusiast Curator Tours form part of the City’s Flourish Community Arts Festival from Sunday 1 October to 30 November.
