Young Scandal Magazine is an anthology of written and artistic work designed to give an authentic view of what it means to be a young person in Western Australia. We care about what young people have to say which is why our management team and contributors are all aged between 14 and 20 years old.
Many big media organisations tell us that they already write about young people’s issues but we know that without our voices, they cannot possibly understand our perspectives.
Young Scandal is a unique compilation of photography, interviews, poetry and articles from young people aged 14-24 right here from WA. We are passionate about what young people have to say and have created a platform for the young people of WA to raise their voice and be heard. We're a team of young ambitious leaders who are on the journey to change.
The idea of the magazine came about when Orla Latawski, the magazine’s founder and now chief editor, noticed a lack of youth media being published and wanted to create a new way of addressing these issues.
Our publication truly provides a glimpse of what is like to be a young person. The whole idea is to promote the voice of young people, to show what affects us and empower the leaders of tomorrow.
Money raised will go to Zero2Hero, an association increasing awareness of mental health issues and services among children and young people. We know mental health is one of the biggest challenges we face as young people.
