Students can enter films in these different categories:

  • Shorts

  • Experimentals

  • CelebrateWA films

  • Black Out films

  • Fountain of Youth films

  • Genreland films

  • Music Videos

Students’ films will be in the draw to win awards for the aforementioned categories, as well as Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Sound, Best Cinematography, Best Actor, Best Animation, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and Best Film Editing.

Crew members must be tertiary students from TAFE Institutions or Curtin University, Edith Cowen University, Murdoch University, Notre Dame University, the University of Western Australia, OR, aspiring non-professional filmmakers between the ages of 18 and 25.

This festival works to ensure that film production companies, media distributors and other film agency representatives see submitted student films, and the students have the opportunity to network with real industry people.

With a diverse range of film categories, more opportunities for young, student, Indigenous, and/or Western Australian filmmakers to flourish, and a passion for  increasing the quality of WA’s screen arts courses, the UNI GOONIES film festival can't go wrong.
