2022 National Young Writers' Festival

  • Propel Youth Arts WA 53 James Street Northbridge (map)

The National Young Writers’ Festival is Australia’s largest gathering of young writers. Celebrating 25 years in 2022, we will be returning to our hometown in Newcastle, NSW and retaining a digital program also. This hybrid festival will feature over 60 events both in person and online, hosting workshops, performances, readings, panels, special events and more.

This year, the Festival is returning with a dynamic and compelling program, featuring over 50 artists from all over Australia. Returning to its hometown on Awabakal and Worimi Land/Newcastle, NSW and retaining a digital program, this hybrid festival will feature over 60 events including; workshops, performances, readings, panels, special events and more!

This year’s festival theme is LOOKING FORWARD, GOING BACK. This year we are asking writers to pause, contemplate the way they have travelled, the people they have met, the lessons they have learned, and set their sights on the road ahead.
