(cross)hatched responds to the difficulties faced by emerging artists in WA in gaining recognition for their practice, and the oft-daunting and overwhelming prospect of practising outside the confines of university and/or TAFE. Graduate artists are invested in keeping their finger on the pulse of what is happening right now, and it is important that the community hears their voices. room01 collective thus intends to celebrate the hard work of these graduates by allowing them to present their work free of curatorial and selection processes. These artists will one day be starting and contributing to public conversation, if they are not already; the future of the Perth and global arts scenes will be shaped by their ideas.
