“In order for connection to happen, we have to allow ourselves to be seen – really seen.” Brene Brown
Rikki Bremner and Trihedral Sector present a double bill of contemporary dance that examines and abstracts the complexities of social interaction and our innate desire for human connection.
How to Con-nect – Rikki Bremner // Through body language and eye contact, our inner desires drive us to connect with those around us, and to truly see each other and ourselves. We live in a world where physical contact is declining and we continue to reach out for these connections.
It’s Getting Awkward – Trihedral Sector // We have all been there. That moment when you’re red faced, sweating and self-conscious. You aim for their lips but they desperately back away, reaching instead for your hand...
This collaborative creation explores the decision making process of choosing an appropriate greeting when meeting someone new. Knowing whether to give a handshake, a hug or a kiss whilst maintaining your composure is surprisingly difficult, even if we provide a convincing display of ease. This work offers a personal insight into the unexplainable dissonance that can be experienced in our daily lives.
