Climb aboard and sail with us! This is your last chance to catch Ships in the Night for 2015.

Ships in the Night is a bimonthly gig showcasing Perth's finest local wordsmiths, who bring their work to life on stage alongside talented musicians in a fresh, intimate context.

This November, headlining will be Lucy Dougan and Geoff Lemon, with readings from Ashley Ramsay, Dennis Venning, Richard Moore and Patrick Marlborough. Tunes will be provided by the wonderful Sam Atkin and Fingernail, and Vidya Rajan will be our host.

THE WHO'S WHO
LUCY DOUGAN is a writer, poet and editor currently based in WA. Among an array of glittering achievements, she co-edited Westerly Magazine's magisterial first edition of their 60th year, and has published several collections of poetry, including this year's roundly acclaimed The Guardians, out via Giramondo.

GEOFF LEMON hides his red curly mop under a ridiculous amount of hats: sports journalist, satirist, Going Down Swinging editor, and impassioned truth-to-power-er at Heathen Scripture . You can read him at The Guardian and The Roar, and hear him do just that at Ships in the Night.

Dougan and Lemon will be backed up by comic and misanthrope PATRICK MARLBOROUGH, novelist DENNIS VENNING, writer and illustrator RICHARD MOORE, and lyricist and punk comix author ASHLEY RAMSEY.

SAM ATKIN makes drone music at its most human, immersive and touching; an emotional, vivid portrait of life lived in the South West and in one's own head. His recent album 'Gently, Quietly' is where the robots become agricultural, windswept and emotionally stumped.

FINGERNAIL started in early 2015 over a mutual love of 90s Riot Grrrl, alternative rock, and Perth music. They are four grrrls who sometimes write songs about asylums, being stuck in the mud, contradictory weirdness and depression. They also make zines.

VIDYA RAJAN is writer and artistic director of the improv troupe Only The Human.
