Propel is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator for KickstART Festival 2020.

Each year propel engages around 50-60 volunteers for the KickstART Festival, the age range is primarily youth from ages 14- 26 but can vary.  At Propel we place a high value on our volunteers without which we would not be able to effectively manage the daily operations during the festival period.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Volunteer Coordinator will be tasked with managing and being responsible for each of our volunteers, including developing a volunteer roster and being the first point of call. This role is excellent for someone who has natural leadership ability, is able to motivate a team and able to create a fun and memorable experience for each individual. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage recruitment of volunteers

  • Coordinate general volunteer enquiries received (phone, email/online, mail)

  • Manage volunteer database

  • Coordinate volunteer induction sessions and team building day 

  • Develop a comprehensive volunteer roster

  • Communicate effectively and offer friendly support to each volunteer

  • Be the first point of call for the volunteers during the festival

  • Monitor the volunteers during the festival, including attendance and whereabouts

  • Attend Youth Planning Committee meetings when possible

  • Out of office hours will be required during Festival Week.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to lead a team or small group

  • Effective time management and organisational skills

  • Comfortable with public speaking

  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and within a team

  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills

  • Able to maintain a positive attitude in pressurised situations

  • Competent with Microsoft office suite including Excel

  • Must be relatively flexible with time

Desired Criteria

  • Previous KickstART Volunteer or artist

  • Current Drivers Licence

  • Young people under the age of 26 are strongly encouraged to apply.

Other Requirements

  • Current WA Police Clearance Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.

  • Current WA Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain one.
