APK Productions is on the search for local Australian artists of Asian heritage aged 18-29 to audition for an upcoming original contemporary musical called "PASSING" to debut at Fringe World 2021.
PASSING is a new original Australian musical completely written, cast and produced by Asian-Australian artists. The goal of this show is to explore and celebrate different cultures (Thai and Australian) and to further the current conversation about race and identity.
PASSING is set around 2018 and aims to highlight the struggles of citizenship, racial micro-aggressions and the clashing of cultural and family values.
The music will be inspired by current indie pop, jazz and hip hop (Mallarat, Sticky Fingers, Thelma Plum, Masego) and will also include Thai songs in their entirety.
Although the characters in the show are Thai-Australian, we welcome all Asian-Australians to audition! However, you must be willing to learn some Thai for the show.
We are looking for well rounded Asian-Australian actors with great improv skills and the willingness to work in a close-knit team.
