Applications Open for “35 – Stories to Stage”

  • The Blue Room Theatre 53 James Street Northbridge, WA, 6003 Australia (map)

Centre for Stories, Performing Lines WA and The Blue Room Theatre are working together to offer artists the opportunity to transform their stories to the stage.

35 – Stories to Stage is a mentorship program for 5 artists who create other mediums and genres, to create and perform a short performance work. Inspired by their core practice.

5 artists from non-theatre backgrounds; writers, poets, dancers, musicians, storytellers, etc. will be supported with 1-on-1 mentoring to develop their words or concepts into a short performance, to be presented within The Blue Room Theatre for 2 nights in July. There is also a stipend for participating artists to reimburse their time.

These stories will reflect, honor or celebrate the 35-year history of The Blue Room Theatre and be the connecting thread between the 5 short works. Artists may interpret this in what 35 means to you, the age, the year, the number, or be inspired by any past The Blue Room Theatre show, by exploring the same themes in your work as a show from our history.

To apply, please answer 2 questions:

  1. Who are you and what is your practice?

  2. How would you use this opportunity, what are you looking to explore?

Email your response to info@centreforstories.com with the subject “35 Application“.

Applications open April 18th and close May 14th.

We strongly encourage First Nations and CaLD artist to apply for this opportunity.

Please contact Centre for Stories or The Blue Room Theatre if you have any questions.
