Pitch Your Project is back for Youth Week WA Kickstart Festival 2024! 💫

If you find yourself sitting with a beaming creative idea and are in the age bracket of 12 to 26, pitch your project for the next KickstART Festival in April 2024! Remember your idea can take any shape or form, including (but not limited to!) performances, workshops, exhibitions, talks, and mentorship programs.

No prior experience is required – we are seeking imaginative proposals by young people, for young people in WA. Successful proposals will be supported by Propel for programming into the festival. We encourage both in-person and digital projects, as well as hybrid formats.

Application Due Date:

Sunday 12 November 2023 | 11.59pm AWST

Late applications will not be considered. Applicants will be notified on the outcome of their project pitch by late-November 2023.

Key information of the project must be submitted via the Jot Form in the button below

Extra considerations:

• Your project idea does not necessarily need to be arts focused, though there should be an element of creativity involved.

• Your project can be a completely new idea or have been presented previously.

• You do not have to provide a project budget, but your project should be flexible to potential alterations in overall scale.

• The content of your project should be age-appropriate (for young people, aged 12-26)

Selection Criteria:

  • Scalability

  • Creativity

  • Responsiveness to youth related topics and issues

  • Cultural sensitivity/considerations

If you are successful, you will be:

  • Offered support by Propel to program and produce your project in the KickstART Festival. This includes design, planning, administration, venue and promotional supports.

  • Working in consultation with the team at Propel, including our Creative Coordinator.

  • Provided with a negotiated artist fee.

  • Featured in the KickstART Festival brochure and other promotional material.

Any further supporting material emailed to hello@propel.org.au.
This can include things like photos of previous works, letters of support, sketches, script excerpts or workshop outlines.

If you have any questions or would like to talk over your application, feel free to organise a meeting with the 2023 Creative Coordinator Naoko Uemoto, her email is naoko@propel.org.au . If you would like to submit your responses via video (3 minutes maximum), please email this to hello@propel.org.au with the subject line PYP VIDEO RESPONSE: YOUR NAME (e.g., PYP VIDEO RESPONSE: NAOKO UEMOTO).

People from all artistic disciplines and stages of practice are encouraged to apply. We strongly encourage applications from artists who identify as Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and/or First Nations, artists living with disability, artists who identify as LGBTQIA+, as well artists who have not worked with Propel Youth Arts WA before
