PIVOT 2022 – Community Consultation
In 2021, Propel Youth Arts WA presented the pilot program PIVOT: Arts Admin for Sustainable Careers. Now, in 2022, Propel is planning the next iteration of the PIVOT program and offering even more opportunities to engage with!
Our aspiration for PIVOT is to build capacity among young and emerging artists and arts workers, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to make their creative careers tangible, practical, valuable, nourishing and ultimately sustainable.
It can be challenging as an artist to balance time and energy for artmaking as well as the essential aspects of day-to-day life. It’s another thing to factor in the time and energy that goes into the parts that help share the art with the world. These parts can include networking, applying for funding, self-promotion, and marketing, working out how much your art is worth, or leading a project that other artists are a part of.
At Propel, we know it can be tricky to find out how these parts work at the start of, or even during, a creative career. We acknowledge that often bigger systems are at play, and that most artists face a common journey of wins and losses as they strive to grow and achieve.
Not only do we want to help young creatives understand the intersections between creativity and business, but we want this program and the presented parts to fit the particular needs of the artists or arts workers participating in it. We want to make sure that the people that are interested in this program, or attended last year, have the opportunity to tell us what they want to learn and how this program should be shaped. And finally, we want to offer as much support and information as we can to young people so that they can utilise what works best for them on their terms.
This form is an invitation for you to help us make PIVOT 2022 even better than before.
It will take no longer than 10 minutes and a select few respondents may be contacted by Propel to have a further chat about their responses and thoughts on this program.
We appreciate your contributions and look forward to delivering this program for young artists in 2022!
