SÄRSKILD
Jason Partridge
Jason is a young designer creating his business from the age of 15. After development, the business officially launched in 2018 on the 2nd of November to remember his Grandma’s Birthday and keep it running as a memory. Jason believes fashion is not to be worn but to be expressed. Jason doesn’t earn a profit for himself but aims to help support fellow diverse artists with their work and to hopefully save enough to expand our wards. Each item created has a meaning or aspect of creation that is an important part of his brand.
Jason focuses on creating two sides to his store. A more open retail aspect and a touched emotional side where his pieces are more in-depth and thought out and usually one-offs.
As a one-man team, Jason balances his Store, Course in Fashion & Design and as well as his part-time job.
Supporting this store also supports local small community stores that are connected to SARSKILD as well as sustainable outlets.
The brand name “SÄRSKILD” is a Swedish word which translates to ‘Special and Unique’. At the time of making the name, I started to become obsessed with Swedish culture. Each piece is designed with meaning. Personally, I’m a sucker for meaning. Each design is either handcrafted or printed or supported locally. I’ve wanted to create a brand so I didn’t have to work in an office or do something day to day. I find working for myself gives me the confidence to do so much. It lets me support others, support myself and my family and friends.
I wanted to build SÄRSKILD with the purpose to help design a store that would help others. It’s a community where people feel like there is no competition.
As a small business and holding a fear of not being good enough, I felt that SÄRSKILD could teach me that you don’t need to be competitive with other businesses and people, especially in comparison to other people’s works of art - which I do a lot. Hopefully, in the future, I’ll be able to take part with other creators and build a stronger community.
