Youth Week WA KickstART Festival

Youth Week WA KickstART Festival is a week-long state wide celebration of young creatives aged between 12 – 26. KickstART Festival 2021 kicked off with Festival Day on Saturday 10 April and continued to Friday 16 April with a range of free performances, forums and collaborative workshops that celebrate the artistry and backgrounds of WA’s young creatives.

About Youth Week WA
Youth Week WA is an annual statewide celebration of young people in our community throughout Western Australia.
More than 100 events take place across the State each year, many of which have received a Youth Week WA grant provided by the State Government of Western Australia through the Department of Communities.
The Youth Week WA 2021 theme was Our Path
2021’s theme Our Path was derived from a small group of young individuals who voiced out what was important to them: community, belonging, interconnectedness, connection to place, culture, strength, change.
Inspired by wayfinding stars, this year’s theme acknowledges the convergence of our individual paths to form a community, to where we are now, and questions how we are going to move forward.
We would not be here today if not for the depth of ancestral knowledge passed through our lineage, it has made way for young people today to initiate change. We have strength, we have agency, how do we go about creating our path? How do we recognise and understand the path we have been walking on?
We are like constellations, interlinked together, united as one, ready to create our path.

The Youth Week WA KickstART Festival 2021 was presented by Propel Youth Arts WA and was funded by the Government of Western Australia through the Department of Communities and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries. KickstART was also sponsored by Lotterywest and the City of Perth.
