Join PICA in celebrating thirty years of Hatched: National Graduate Show with an Open Day at PICA. Come and see the exhibition and experience artist talks and performances throughout the main gallery space. The day will culminate in a professional development forum where professional artists, curators and community arts practitioners share their knowledge and experiences of forging careers in the arts.

ON THE PROGRAM
12.30pm -1.30pm | Hatched Artist Talks & Performance (AUSLAN interpreted)
Facilitated by Miranda Johnson, Hatched Curatorial Fellow, the floor talks will feature Hatched 2021 artists Bradley Kickett (WA), Lisa Myeong-Joo (NSW) and Hannah Foley (TAS) and will be followed by Hannah Foley’s breathing performance 'Breathing Backwards'.

2.30pm – 4pm | Hatched Forum
Playing Fair: Collaboration and social practice
Against a backdrop of social, political and environmental upheaval, the speakers on this panel provide insight to emerging artists on the challenges of navigating a career in independent professional arts practice. Forging a career as a professional artist comes with ethical and moral questions around seeking funding, working with communities and collaborating with artists, and representing your practice to institutions and business corporations.

Facilitated by Patrice Sharkey and featuring Hatched 2018 Alumni Elham Eshraghian, community cultural development practitioner Pilar Kasat, director, writer and choreographer Sam Fox and multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer Tyrown Waigana
