African Australian Youth Empowerment Summit is a half-day summit that brings together local African youth, service providers, corporate business executives and government officials to learn about the image, potential and future of African Australian Youth.
The summit is an initiative of the Organisation of African Communities in WA Stop the Violence Project (STVP), whose objective is to identify youths in the African community at risk of committing crimes and match them with peer mentors who can steer them out of trouble.
Panel sessions, focus group discussions and ideas collated a summit communique called the WA AFRICAN AUSTRALIAN YOUTH STRATEGY will be submitted to the WA Government Department of Sport and Cultural Industries.
During the summit four agendas will be covered:
• Employment
• Job Readiness
• Mental Health
• Alcohol and Drug
The Summit, the second largest African youth gathering in WA will mobilize a diversity of attendances and policy makers from all Western Australia comprising government officials, entrepreneurs, emerging youth and student leaders to collate ideas from them to aggregate them into relevant themes able to shape policy on African Australian Relations.
