St George's Art is a premier annual event in art education in Western Australia, attracting schools from all sectors. Now in its 14th year, St George’s Art provides an outstanding opportunity for schools to present work by pupils in Years 10, 11 and 12, in the unique setting of Perth’s St George’s Cathedral. The Gothic revival building is transformed into a unique and beautiful art gallery for nine days in July.

Visitors flock to this exhibition of Perth’s artists of the future. The participating students from schools all over WA gain valuable experience from exhibiting with their peers and the catalogue provides an excellent addition to each artist’s portfolio. Many of the young artists are selected to show their work in the Year 12 Perspectives Exhibition at the Art Gallery of WA. Prizes are offered in different categories and are a great incentive for the artists. Visitors may vote for the People’s Choice prize, awarded at the close of the exhibition, and also purchase artworks. St George’s Art 2016 has an open theme to allow teachers and students to give free reign to their creativity.

Thanks to generous corporate and private support, particularly from the Anglican Community Fund and the City of Perth, there is no registration cost to schools or students. This event is part of the City of Perth’s 2016 Winter Arts Festival.
