Eva Fernandez, Teapot from Sword of Damocles series
Curators Leonie Matthews (Matthews McDonald Architects) and Curtin University PhD candidate Robyn Creagh have invited local and national artists, architects and designers to explore the notion of the ‘still life’ to create an extraordinary exhibition interpreting and portraying the inanimate, everyday objects of domestic spaces.
The exhibition consists of two and three-dimensional works set up in mise en scène, with furniture pieces, wall papers, photography, paintings and art objects created by artists Neil Aldum, Eva Fernandez, Susan Flavell, Fiona Harman, Kieran Ingram, Elisa Markes-Young, Antony Muia, Fran Rhodes and Kirstine Sadler; and designers Katherine Ashe, Megan Christie, Adam Cruickshank, Richelle Doney, Penelope Forlano, Brendan Jurich, as well as recent Industrial Design graduates from Central Institute of Technology, Ali Sattarpanah, Shannon Riddle, Jack Flanagan and Callum Campbell.
Using sculptural forms, repetition and the beauty of light, shade and tone, these installations sit in between art, design and architecture.
