As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent live event cancellations, KickstART Virtual was a week-long online festival of free workshops, talks and hangouts, specifically tailored to young creative people in WA, and developed by Creative Coordinator Kobi Arthur Morrison with the Youth Week WA Planning Committee.

One week of creative workshops, talks, performances and more by young people for young people. All online, free and youth-orientated. This was an opportunity for young people in WA to come together, learn and connect during this time of isolation. It was an opportunity to get creative and stay connected with the arts community, all from the safety and comfort of your own home.

KickstART Virtual’s visual theme was inspired by vapourwave aesthetics, with graphics designed by Madeleine Antill.

KickstART Virtual Live Streams

Join us live on Zoom for a series of masterclasses, talks, workshops, and hangouts. As part of KickstART Virtual, these livestream sessions will feature local, national and international young artists.

From a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from Grammy-winning musical prodigy Jacob Collier, to interactive workshops with artists such as Jack Davies and Prema Arasu, to a forum with the directors of four of WA’s biggest festivals, to a series of hangout sessions with some of Perth’s best-loved creators, we’re proud to present this free opportunity for young people across Western Australia to stay connected with our vital arts community during these unprecedented times.

KickstART Virtual Video Uploads

Throughout the week of KickstART Virtual, we will be uploading videos from young and emerging artists to Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. These videos will also be made available on this website after the festival.

From a unique welcome to country delivered by Dr. Richard Walley OAM, to workshops on creativity from artists such as STAV. and Genevieve Burke, to theme introductions for each day of KickstART Virtual, we’re so excited to share all this and more with you during this time of isolation and uncertainty.

Please enjoy and share these videos far and wide, they are for everybody!

KickstART Virtual Market

KickstART Virtual Market

Perth’s only youth-oriented art market is back and this year we're going online!

From Saturday 23 May – Friday 29 May 2020, over 30 young entrepreneurs and makers were featured on the Propel website. Each virtual stall holder will had a profile, which included links to their own sales platform.

The KickstART Virtual Market allowed you to support your local young makers and artists throughout the week. Stallholders were able to keep 100% of their profits and Propel did not collect any fees on either side.
